Crescent Roll Apple Dumplings
Ingredients:
2 cans (8 each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
2 sticks butter or margarine
1-1/2 cups brown sugar
1 tsp. each vanilla extract, cinnamon or to taste
1 can (12 oz,) 7 Up® (or Mountain Dew®)
2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and core
Directions:
Heat oven to 350ºF (175ºC). Wash apples, peel and cut into 8 even slices. Unwrap crescent rolls and separate triangles. Place a piece of apple on each dough triangle (on a wider side) and roll it in a croissant. Butter a 13x9" baking dish. In a separate bowl, combine butter, cinnamon, sugar and vanilla, mix until a liquid mixture without lumps forms, pour over rolls. Pour soda (7-up or Mountain Dew) between rolls, but not over, bake 35 - 45 minutes, until they become golden brown. Serve immediately, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Makes 6 servings.
