I got my NM magazine in the mail and saw this recipe that I'm definately gonna try. I love brussel sprouts but have only cooked them one way and that was
water and butter. This recipe looks great to me:
11 brussel sprouts
2 large potatoes
6 slices bacon fried until crispy, oil reserved
1 small onion, sliced
2 teaspoons lemon zest
1/4-1/2 cup green chile, roasted, peeled, diced
salt and pepper to taste
clean, quarter and steam sprouts until tener. Peel, dice and simmer potatoes until tender. Fry bacon until crisp. In a large pan heat bacon drippings, add onion and saute a couple of min. Add the rest of the stuff and cook over low heat as long as you can stand it. If you don't like brussel prouts you can substitute chopped green cabbage.
